S. Egidio alla Vibrata (TE), 23 July 2006
The Val Vibrata Circuit assigned all the Titles of the 2006 Italian Open Masters. The prestigious championship, that starting from this year is “FIA authorized” officially recognized, has recorded an extraordinary number of entrees in each appointment of the season. In S. Egidio there were 199 drivers.
Drivers using Vega tyres dominated in every category, winning all the 8 races and getting 23 steps of the podium on a total of 24 available. After two weeks from the triumphs in the 100 Italian Championships (victory obtained in ICA with Giacomo Patrono and in 100 ICA-Junior with Mario Turchetto), the 2006 Italian Open Masters confirmed that the VEGA CIK/FIA 2007 tyres are definitely the tyres of choice.
100 FA. NIKKOLAJ BOLLINGTOFT (TonyKart / Vortex / VEGA) is the new Italian Open Masters champion.
In Final-1 the Danish driver took the victory in front of two team mates: the winner of the 2005 edition Marco Ardigò (TonyKart / Vortex / VEGA) and Francesco Antonucci (TonyKart / TM-Vortex / VEGA). In Final-2 for Bollingtoft was enough to finish fourth in order to win the title. The team mate Ardigò, in fact, was able take the victory with nearly six second of advantage on the Italian Sauro Cesetti (Birel / TM / VEGA), taking away from the Birel driver the points needed in order to lead the championship. Third step of the podium with some regrets for the French driver Jules Bianchi (Maranello / Parilla / VEGA), who was second in ranking before Val Vibrata, just behind the leader Gary Catt. Both drivers have seen to vanish the title it in Final-1 (fifth place for the French and withdrawal for English). CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL RANKINGS:
1. BOLLINGTOFT (DK) 131 - TonyKart / Vortex / VEGA
2. CESETTI (I) 129 - Birel / TM / VEGA
3. BIANCHI (F) 124 - Maranello/Parilla/VEGA
125 ICC. ALESSANDRO MANETTI (Intrepid / TM / VEGA) is the new Italian Open Masters champion. After to have dominated almost all previous races, Manetti had enough point to keep the leaderschip despite an eight and a second place in Val Vibrata circuit. This time was Davide Forè (TonyKart / Vortex / VEGA) to steal the show, winning Final-1 in front of his team mate Alessandro Sferrella (TonyKart / Vortex / VEGA). Devid De Luchi (Intrepid / Pavesi / VEGA) classified in third position. In Final-2 Forè preceded Manetti and the World Champion of the category: Francesco Laudato (Birel / TM / VEGA). CHAMPIONSHIPS FINAL RANKINGS:
1. MANETTI (I) 179 – Intrepid / TM / VEGA
2. FORE’ (I) 144 – TonyKart / Vortex / VEGA
2. LAUDATO (I) 144 – Birel / TM / VEGA
100 ICA. ANTONIO PICCIONI (TonyKart / Vortex) won the title of the category 100 ICA, although he wasn’t successful to earn points in this last race. In S. Egidio, the Italian driver David Mancinelli (TonyKart / Vortex / VEGA) and the Czech Kristaps Meters (Maranello / Iame / VEGA) shared two beautiful victories. Mancinelli won Final-1 with a good margin on the French Adrien Tambay (Zanardi / Iame / VEGA) and Meters, which, in Final-2, took his revenge overcoming Mancinelli and the truly talented Austrian driver Patrick Fontner (TonyKart / Vortex / VEGA), who reached third place. German driver Marco Wittman (Birel / TM / VEGA), Piccioni’s only rival that was still mathematically competing for the final victory of the title, has obtained two sixth places, earning only 20 points. CHAMPIONSHIPS FINAL RANKINGS:
1. PICCIONI (I) 146 - (TonyKart / Vortex)
2. WITTMANN (D) 123 - (Birel / TM / VEGA)
3. MANCINELLI (I) 98 – (TonyKart / Vortex / VEGA)
100 ICA-Junior. SCOTT JENKINS (Intrepid / Iame / VEGA) is the new champion of Junior ICA category. The English driver has not participated to the race, but his advantage on the pursuers was such to succeed to win the title. In Final-1 Manzur Kazeem Sulayman (Zanardi / Parilla-Iame / VEGA) it has gained with a gap of approximately three second in front of the Czech Toman Libor (Maranello / Iame) and the Spanish Javier Tarancon (AGO / Parilla / VEGA). Tarancon has gained Final-2 in front of Manzur and to the German Peter Antonfeld (Birel / Parilla / VEGA). CHAMPIONSHIPS FINAL RANKINGS:
1. JENKINS (GB) 145 – (Intrepid / Iame / VEGA)
2. CAMPONESCHI (I) 121 – (Intrepid / Iame / D-VEGA)
3. DA COSTA (E) 120 – (Crg / Parilla / D-VEGA)
Once again the results of the Italian Open Masters championship have been more than positive for drivers who choose Vega tyres. XP - XS - XH (CIK/FIA 2007 Homologated) are definitely the tyres of choice.
