Open Masters (SARNO): VEGA wins in FA, ICC & ICA

Sarno (SA - Italy), 16-18 June, 2006

The show offered by the fourth appointment of the Italian Open Masters "FIA Authorised Series" 2006 of Sarno (SA, Italy) was truly electrifying. At the International Circuit of Naples there were 221 drivers (76 in Junior ICA, 75 in ICA, 31 in FA and 39 in 125 ICC), coming from all round the world. Drivers using VEGA Tyres have dominated the event, winning the Finals in 100 FA, 125 ICC and 100 ICA.

Finals results and temporary Championships

100 FA. French driver Jules Bianchi (Maranello / Parilla / VEGA XP) won the Final 1 in front of Dutch Michael Christensen and Italian Sauro Cesetti (Birel / TM / VEGA XP). In Final 2 the Finnish driver Teemu Nyman (Gillard / Parilla / VEGA XP) claimed the victory in front of Danish Nikolaj Bollingtoft (TonyKart / Vortex / VEGA XP). Third place went to Cesetti, which is now third in the championship, 9 points behind the leader Gary Catt.

The Championship: 1. Gary Catt (GB) 105; 2. Jules Bianchi (F) 97; Sauro Cesetti (I) 96.

125 ICC. Alessandro Manetti (Intrepid / TM / VEGA XS) has once again dominated the race. At Sarno just like at Lonato and Muro Leccese, the Italian driver featured a double victory. In Final 1 Manetti finished in front of Roberto Toninelli and Francesco Laudato (Birel / TM / VEGA XS). In final 2 Manetti’s keen teammate Alessandro Piccini (Intrepid / TM / VEGA XS) finished in second place after a beautiful come back from the 7th position. In this race Toninelli finished third in front of Laudato.

The Championship: Alessandro Manetti (I) 150; Roberto Toninelli (I) 126; Francesco Laudato (I) 115.

100 ICA. Daniel Mancinelli (Tony Kart / Vortex / VEGA XS) took the victory in the spectacular Final 1in front of teammate Antonio Piccioni and Austrian driver Patrick Fontner (TonyKart / Vortex / VEGA XS). In Final 2 was Nicola Nolè reaching the finish line in front of Fontner e Mancinelli.

The Championship: Antonio Piccioni (I) 146; Marco Wittmann (D) 103; Ketty D’Ambrosio (CH) 63.

There are great expectations looking at the next and ultimate appointment that will take place on July the 23rd at S. Egidio alla Vibrata (Teramo). The temporary Championships still are undecided and we all expect another extraordinary race weekend.
